Postmodernism is what could be considered breaking the fourth wall. It mainly involves literary features such as Irony and it Involves art to. Some other examples of Postmodernism is a topic about a topic. Stories with Postmodernism would make you think and question about it. There is no moral to it and it isn't original. Postmodernism could expose the similarities of two things and make them different from each other. Postmodernism breaks the fourth wall by making the characters or the narrator acknowledge the existence of the audience.
The movie Stranger Than Fiction is about an IRS agent named Harold crick. Harold is living his life through a speciffic routine thanks to his watch, but he starts to hear the voice of the person who is narrating the movie. We find out that the narrator is an author who's using Harold for her story and want to kill him. While waiting for the bus, the narrator said that Harold is going to die! Worried Harold goes to see a professor tells him that he may be in the middle of a story that is a tragity. While auditnig a girl named ana, he starts to fall in love with her. Harold tries to listen to the narrator and do in order to stop the story. But out of nowhere, a crane destroys a part of Harold's apartment. While his place is benig fixed, Harold stays with a co.worker. The next Harold is living his differently such as learning to play the guitar and seeing ana. When Harold tries to find the author Who just found out that Harold is a real person. Harold tries to get her to change the story but then changes his mind. The next mourning, harold goes to the bus stop and when a little boy falls off his bike, harold pushes him out of the way of the bus. getting hit in the process. But thanks to his watch he lives.
This movie is postmodern in a lot of ways. harold is hearing the narrators voice all through the film. This is basically a story about a story since the narrator is writing a story about him. At the end there really isn't moral to all this. The most important thng about this film is the complete destruction of the fouth wall. Harold was hearing the voice of the narrator. That doesn't happen in movie a lot.
postmodernism could be something people can enjoy and laugh at. even though it doesn't make sence, it could be funny. Postmodernism, what can you do?

IDS,EGOS AND SUPEREGOS
The average human being has three qualities called the Id, Ego and Superego. The Id is what make us want to have things. If we have to go to the bathroom, the id would tell us to go to the bathroom or if we were tired, the id would tell us to sleep. The Ego is what make us get what we want in a more calmer way. If you saw someone with something you wanted, the ego would tell you to either ask to borrow it or get a job so you can by it. The Superego is tells us the difference between right and wrong. It tells us what rules to follow and what is good in our society. In the world the Id and Ego are the ones who compete with each other.
The movie Fight Club generally expresses the idea of the id, ego and superego. The of the plot is when the main character (played by Edward Norton) has a case of insomnia. He starts going to support groups by acting like he's a victim. But while at the support group, he meets Marla. Marla is faking to be a victim like him. While on airplane, Norton meets Tyler, a soap salesman. When the two meet outside a bar, Tyler tells Norton to punch him hard and the two start fighting which attracts attention and thus fight was born! At first fight club was just a secret place where people could fight each other, but over time it becomes a terrorist project. Later in the story we find out that Tyler is basically a figment of Norton's imagination. Because of this Everyone thinks that Norton is Tyler. Norton than discovers that Tyler is planing to blow up credit card buildings. In order to get rid of Tyler for good, Norton shoots himself. in the end Norton lives and wacthes the buildings explode while holding hands with Marla.
Norton's character can be described as the superego. Norton is the one who tries to get Tyler to shut down the terrorist project. He also tries to keep Marla safe after finding out the truth about what Tyler is. He does everything he can to stop Tyler from causing anymore damage. After fighting with Tyler, Norton decides to shoot himself and kill Tyler as well. This proves that Norton is the superego of the movie. He knows what is right and wrong.
Tyler's character can be describes as the id. Tyler used all sorts of inhumane tactics to get what he wants. Tyler doesn't even care who gets hurts in the process. One person died while working on the project. He ended up get killed when Norton shot himself. but the buildings that had the bombs in them exploded anyway, so Tyler kind of won.
Id and superego were the ones who were against each other in this movie. Norton was the superego and tyler was the id. this could be considered a conflict of good and evil. in this case it was a draw.

Tough Guise and BOYZ N THE HOOD
The Tough Guise is what men use to gain respect among their peers. The movie Boyz n the hood demonstrates the use of the Tough Guise with the roles of the characters. This movie is about a boy named Trey who is sent to live with father after getting into a fight at school. Overtime he grows up in the neighborhood and goes though a lot of trials in film. While Trey and his friend Ricky were taking a walk, they see a car pull up. The two realize it's the gang the met a couple nights before. Trey and Ricky make a break for it. But when a gang member pulls out a gun, Ricky gets shot and killed on the spot. Ricky's friends decide to get revenge but Trey changes his mind and leaves. Trey are successful in killing the gang but Ricky's brother feels empty, but Trey tells him that he still has him.
The Tough Guise is the main theme the film uses. The character who use the Tough Guise are probably Trey's friends. They use the guise as a way to avenge Ricky's death. The who shot Ricky use the guise to. They used it when they murdered Ricky. The characters who use the Tough Guise are probably trying to hide their feelings because they might think that showing emotion is a sign of weakness. They must think that showing emotions is not what "real men"do. At the beginning of the movie Trey was using the tough guise when he was little when he got into a fight. The tough guise is really just a way for men to embarrass themselves.
The person who doesn't use the tough guise is Trey when he's older. When Trey is older he is more cautious and smarter. During one part of the movie trey cries because he's tried of all the violence and the shootings in neighborhood. Then there's a scene where Trey cries again after Ricky gets shot by the bad gang. In another scene Trey decides that he can't the gang who shot Ricky and gets out of the car. All of this is proof that Trey is a "better man" and it's because of his dad.
Trey's dad furious is also a better man because he teaches Trey to not become a thug like the gang members. Furious is the one who convinces Trey not to go after the gang who shot Ricky. If he hadn't done that, his son would have done a really really horrible. It really is a good thing that Furious intervened and that means he's a "better man".
The tough guise is going to be a problem because it will make men dangerous. If men are more nicer than they will be more acceptable in society. The tough guise is something that must be removed from our society. I hope the it will be removed eventually.
